At some point, we wonder if we have a calling if there is a real purpose for our life.

The answer is simple. Yes.

You were born with a calling.

Our calling is gifted to us and was written into our lives long before we were even a twinkle in our parents’ eyes.

Realizing our calling isn’t something that suddenly reveals itself, like a child prodigy who naturally masters something in a big way, but instead it’s revealed to and through us in different ways and in everything we do during our life journey.

To understand this better, it’s the way we do things and comes from our deepest why.

The road to realizing what our calling isn’t a straight one.

The road to realizing what our calling isn’t a straight one. There are peaks and valleys, bumps and dips, twists, and turns.

The peaks are when we seem to be precisely where we are meant to be and filled with opportunity and abundance. But it is just part of the journey to the full realization of your calling. The times in the valley, we wonder if we are on the right path and may even wonder if God has forgotten you. And that is a big “no”!

Each season of this journey lasts different lengths of time and is different for everyone. While the peaks are about the external and obvious ways our calling evolves, the valleys are more about internal growth. Adversity is also a time of preparation and is a change happening internally. It’s during those valleys that God is working in you in some way to bring your heart in alignment with your calling and the next peak.

No matter the season of our lives or how aware or not we are of our calling, we live that calling. It’s expressed right where we are at that moment. Our calling isn’t the “what” of what we do, but who we are inside. Go ahead, look back at that job you were miserable in, that part of your business you don’t enjoy. No matter what you do, your calling is who you are and will shine through in some way, in everything you do.

I’ve loved the process I’ve discovered about my calling. It’s been a combination of peaks and valleys, and as I reflect it’s incredible how far I’ve come and that my gift, no matter what I’ve done as a photographer or coach or even back to the days of being an employee in other industries,

The new outlook at my past was an incredible “aha” for me.

As I looked back over my life and distilled down each phase of my life, I’ve discovered my calling is the lifting and encouraging of others through connections I make as an entrepreneur. My tools to accomplish this are speaking, photography, coaching, volunteering, as a woman with Moxie.
