Your Legacy, Your Vision Journey

Welcome! I’m Cheryl Kaiser – The Photo Archaeologist. With over 35 years in photography, my passion has evolved from simply creating images to uncovering the stories they hold and preserving them for generations.

For me, a photograph isn’t just a picture—it’s a window into meaning. It can anchor us to our heritage, spark memories long forgotten, and reveal parts of ourselves we didn’t know we were looking for. I draw from the power of photography not only to help you preserve your images, but also to guide personal reflection, deepen faith, and inspire connection. Whether you’re surveying a single image or an entire collection, the process can become a journey of discovery—about the people who came before you, the life you’re living now, and the legacy you’re shaping for the future.

Whether we’re piecing together the life behind a vintage photo, restoring a treasured family image, exploring mindful photography as a tool for reflection, or curating a collection that will stand the test of time, my goal is the same: to help you see your photographs in a way that deepens your story and strengthens your legacy.

I thrive on the mystery of old images, the art of restoration, the joy of teaching, and the quiet pause that comes with mindful photography. It’s this variety that keeps me inspired—and ready to help you transform your photos into something that matters.

Let’s uncover the stories that make you… you.

I had two large group photographs at a print shop to be copied for our church. Well, the print shop was flooded leaving the photographs damaged and stained. I contacted Cheryl about restoring them. The restoration was exceptional!

Cheryl not only taught me things I needed to know about photography, but she challenged me which gave me the confidence to continue growing as a photographer and she was always available to help and support me. For a year she held the vision I had for my photography business. She provided all the tools and countless resources for a solid foundation. Today, I am confident and relaxed in my business. My advice, if you’re stuck, feel you need more, and someone you can trust to be “all in”, Cheryl’s the one to call.

I’m a passionate, type-A, restless redhead – OK, in spirit now, not hair color – with a sharp sense of humor and an endless curiosity for the past. I may be technically older, but in my mind, I’m still 27—and I refuse to grow up. Life should be fun, and if there’s an opportunity to laugh, you can bet I’ll take it.

I thrive on challenges and that rush of adrenaline when I’m pushing boundaries, especially when it means doing something unexpected. If I set my mind to something, I will figure it out. Sitting still? Not my thing (maybe it’s the ADHD). I’m a doer, a striver, and often the one being told to “shush” or slow down when my enthusiasm takes over—which is often.

My Work: A Life-Long Passion Turned Career 2.0

Photography has always been at the heart of what I do, but my passion has expanded into a multi-faceted journey of uncovering, curating, preserving, and sharing stories. I love piecing together the past—whether it’s through restoring old photos, exploring genealogy, or teaching others how to preserve their own family history. As the curator of four generations of my own family’s heritage, I understand the deep personal connection we have to our memories, and I’m dedicated to helping others honor and protect theirs.

At the same time, I’m equally passionate about empowering women—a calling that stems from my faith and the incredible ways Jesus has worked in my life. Through photography, storytelling, and personal growth, I believe in helping others see their own strength and purpose.
