Legacy & Heritage Photo Services

Your photographs have a story. Let’s figure out what they need.

Maybe you’ve inherited boxes of photographs.

Maybe your digital collection has gotten out of hand.

Maybe there’s one damaged photograph you desperately want restored.

Or perhaps you have photographs, documents, family history, and stories—and you know they matter, but you’re not sure what to do with all of it.

You don’t need to have the answer before you contact me.

That’s often where I come in.

I help individuals and families uncover what they have, determine what matters, and find practical ways to preserve and share the photographs and stories they want to carry forward.

Not Sure Where to Begin?

Start with an Archive Blueprint

Sometimes what you need most isn’t someone to organize everything for you.

You need someone who understands photographs to sit down with you, look at what you have, ask the right questions, and help you figure out what to do next.

An Archive Blueprint session gives us the opportunity to explore your collection together and create a realistic plan based on your photographs, priorities, budget, time, and goals.

We might discuss:

  • physical and digital organization
  • what to keep and what can go
  • digitization priorities
  • preservation and archival storage
  • identifying and documenting photographs
  • restoration needs
  • family stories and genealogy
  • digital backup and storage
  • ways to share the collection
  • special projects that could grow from what we discover

You’ll leave with clearer priorities and practical next steps rather than another overwhelming list of things you “should” be doing.

Digitizing & Reproductions

Preserve the photograph. Preserve the information with it.

Scanning photographs is only one piece of preservation.

Resolution, file formats, naming, organization, backups, physical storage, metadata, and the stories connected to the photographs all matter.

I can help you determine an appropriate approach for your collection without turning your life into one giant scanning project.

Depending on what you have, I may work directly with you or recommend trusted resources and vendors for portions of the project.

The goal isn’t to digitize everything simply because you can.

It’s to preserve what matters thoughtfully.

Photo Restorations & Salvage

Sometimes the photograph itself needs a little archaeology.

Tears. Creases. Fading. Stains. Missing pieces. Years of wear.

I’ve been professionally restoring photographs for decades, combining my background as a photographer with careful digital restoration to preserve the character of the original image while repairing damage whenever possible.

Every photograph is different.

Before beginning, I’ll evaluate your image and discuss what’s realistic, what I recommend, and how the finished photograph might best be reproduced or preserved.

Have an unusual photograph?

Ask anyway.

I’ve worked with photographs in all sorts of conditions, and if your project requires something outside my expertise, I’ll tell you—and when possible, point you toward someone who can help.

Digital Photo Storage with FOREVER

A permanent home for the photographs you want to keep.

For clients who want a secure long-term digital home for their photographs and family stories, I use and recommend FOREVER.

I’m a FOREVER Ambassador and use the platform personally as well as with clients because it provides permanent cloud storage designed specifically around preserving and sharing photographs and memories.

If FOREVER is appropriate for your collection, I can help you determine what you need, get started, and incorporate it into your larger archive plan.

Legacy & Special Projects

Some stories don’t fit neatly into a service menu.

Good.

Those are often the interesting ones.

You may have an unusual collection, an important anniversary, a family story you want to preserve, photographs connected to genealogy, an idea for a tribute, or something you can’t quite describe yet.

My role may involve photography, restoration, research, curation, storytelling, consulting—or bringing in another trusted professional when a project needs expertise beyond mine.

Tell me what you have and what you’re hoping to accomplish.

We’ll start there.

Consulting & Mentoring

Sometimes you simply need another set of experienced eyes.

You may want to do the hands-on work yourself but need guidance along the way.

I offer individual consulting and mentoring for people working with personal or family photograph collections, including family historians, genealogists, memory keepers, and others navigating a particular photographic or legacy project.

We can meet for a single focused conversation or determine whether additional guidance would be useful.

No giant program required.

How I Approach Your Collection

Uncover. Curate. Preserve. Share.

I don’t believe every photograph needs to be scanned, restored, cataloged, printed, put into a book, and handed down for seventeen generations.

Some photographs matter more than others.

Some stories deserve more attention.

And every family has different priorities.

We’ll begin by uncovering what you have and what matters.

We’ll curate the photographs and stories worth carrying forward.

We’ll determine how best to preserve them.

And when appropriate, we’ll find meaningful ways to share them.

The goal isn’t a perfect archive.

It’s a collection that remains understandable, accessible, and meaningful to the people who care about it.

What Do You Have?

You don’t need to know which service you need.

You don’t even need to know whether what you’re considering is a “project.”

Tell me what’s sitting in the box, on the hard drive, in the album—or rattling around in your head.

We’ll figure out the next step together.
